Prohibited & Restricted Products Policy

1) Purpose
This policy explains which products are prohibited or restricted on Deerab. It helps ensure compliance with Canadian law and international import/export rules, and protects our buyers and community.
This policy applies to all sellers and listings visible to Canadian customers, regardless of the seller’s location.
2) General Rule
Sellers are responsible for full compliance with (including but not limited to):
- Canada Consumer Product Safety Act (CCPSA)
- Health Canada (Natural Health Products, Food, Cosmetic & Drug Acts)
- Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) food import & labelling rules
- Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) import rules
- Applicable laws in the buyer’s and seller’s countries
- Deerab Terms & Seller Agreement
Deerab may remove or block any listing that poses a legal, health, or safety risk.
3) Prohibited Products
A) Health & Medical
- Unapproved supplements or sexual-enhancement products; items with undeclared prescription-type substances (e.g., sildenafil/tadalafil/vardenafil or analogues)
- Products banned by Health Canada or other regulators (e.g., TGA/FDA)
- Prescription medicines, injectables, or diagnostic kits not authorized for OTC sale
B) Food & Beverages
- Items with non-permitted additives or novel ingredients without approval
- Missing ingredient/allergen/expiry labelling
- Non-compliant imports under CFIA or border rules
C) Cosmetics & Beauty
- Ingredients on Health Canada’s Cosmetic Ingredient Hotlist
- Skin-lightening with mercury, or hydroquinone > 2%
- Cosmetics making drug-like claims (e.g., “cures acne,” “permanent wrinkle removal”)
D) Hazardous & Controlled
- Explosives, fireworks, weapons or replicas
- Liquor, tobacco, vape products
- Fuel/flammables, gas cylinders, and regulated chemicals
E) Illegal/Counterfeit
- Narcotics, cannabis, or other controlled substances
- Counterfeit or replica goods; recalled or expired products
4) Restricted Products (Require Pre-Approval)
- Natural health products with valid NPN (Natural Product Number)
- Medical devices with a valid MDL (Medical Device Licence)
- Food items with proper CFIA permits and compliant labelling
- Beauty products with GMP manufacturing and full ingredient disclosure
Sellers must provide documentation (e.g., NPN, MDL, CFIA permit, COA/MSDS) on request.
5) Seller Responsibilities
- Verify legality in the destination country before listing
- Disclose accurate ingredients and avoid unapproved therapeutic claims
- Remove listings immediately upon recall, ban, or Deerab notice
- Provide compliance documents within 48 hours when requested
6) Enforcement
- Immediate removal of prohibited listings
- Temporary or permanent account suspension
- Withholding of payouts during investigations
- Reporting to Health Canada/CBSA or other authorities as required
7) Examples of Prohibited Items
